Gotye - Somebody That I Used To Know
A few weeks ago two of my friends recommended that I check out Gotye, and to say I’m glad I did would be a gross understatement. I first saw the video and was absolutely swept into the song, hauntingly so. That being said, I think the song has a bigger impact when heard in conjunction with the video.
Most likely the Aussies and Kiwis that are stopping by my blog tonight are very familiar with this song, seeing that it went to number 1 on the charts earning “Making Mirrors” a platinum record in Australia. Sadly, the record hasn’t been released in the United States or the UK, or anywhere outside of New Zealand, Australia, Netherlands and Belgium. Hopefully they can cross the record over and expand distribution, because this is too wonderful for people across the world not to hear. The song features the beautiful and crazy talented Kimbra, who I predict will blow up around the world in the next year or so as well.
The melodies and lyric are masterful, enhanced by the minimalist instrumentation. Vocally its as if he’s the lovechild of Phil Collins and Sting but raised by Peter Gabriel.
All great things.
Turn it up and I hope you enjoy!

Pick one: Peter Gabriel, Sting, or Phil Collins?
So yeah, kind of in love with this song now, when I need to be in bed. And he was so right about the guy’s voice. It’s almost creepy how much he sounds like both of them.
Alway reblog Gotye’s awesomeness. Never thought about who his voice sounds like , but I can hear the Peter Gabriel and Phil Collins similarities. Sting not so much.
